Intern Spotlight: Grayson Buckley

Grayson is from Victoria, Minnesota, and is currently a junior studying Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. Outside of work and school, he enjoys rock climbing, weight lifting, and playing video games.
A Strong Start at Design Ready Controls
When the opportunity came up to intern at Design Ready Controls as a Mechanical Engineer, Grayson was immediately drawn to the company. He says, “they are an innovative, up-and-coming company at the forefront of control panel manufacturing.” Grayson is grateful for the opportunity to be part of a growing company and excited to contribute to a team with such a strong future ahead.
Valuing Teamwork
Of Design Ready Controls’ core values, Collaborative stands out most to Grayson. He believes strong teamwork is an important part of any successful workplace and values the relationships he has built with his coworkers. As he explains, “it makes the work that I do more enjoyable.” The sense of connection has played a meaningful role in Grayson’s experience so far, and he especially enjoys the positive atmosphere at work, including the chance to spend time with coworkers during breaks and shoot hoops together.
Learning Along the Way
Throughout his internship, Grayson has been working on assembling spec documents for the manufacturing team and categorizing parts to help improve process flow and efficiency. Alongside his project work, he has also enjoyed getting to know his fellow interns, especially through activities like the intern Guess Who game, which gave everyone the opportunity to learn more about each other in a fun and memorable way.
A Passion For Problem-Solving
Grayson’s interest in Mechanical Engineering comes from his love of problem-solving and the versatility the field offers. He says, “Mechanical Engineering is kind of like a Jack of all trades, it gives you the freedom to do whatever you want in the industry.” That flexibility, along with the opportunity to apply his skills in meaningful ways, continues to motivate him as he grows in his education and career.
Working Toward the Future
Looking ahead, Grayson plans to continue his education in Mechanical Engineering and pursue future opportunities in the field. With so many possibilities in front of him, he is excited for what comes next.
