Internship: Supply Chain Intern
Adam is a Supply Chain intern at Design Ready Controls who will begin his sophomore year at Luther College this fall. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, playing cards, and strategy-based games.
Finding the Right Fit
Adam was drawn to Design Ready Controls by both the way the business operates and the people behind it. With an interest in the electrical industry, he was excited to join an environment where team members bring strong work ethic, knowledge, and enthusiasm to their roles each day. As Adam shares, “Design Ready Controls seemed like a good fit for me because I found manufacturing control panels as a really interesting process.” He has also enjoyed seeing how departments work together to support the company’s goals and has found the workplace welcoming and easy to connect with. From participating in fun events like the Intern World Championships to conversations with co-workers throughout the day, Adam has valued getting to know the people who make up the Design Ready Controls team.
Supporting Smarter Decisions
In his internship, Adam has been helping update supplier lead times within internal systems. His work includes reviewing expected material timing, connecting with suppliers for updated information, and making adjustments that support more effective planning across the business. As Adam shares, “I worked on a lot of enjoyable projects this summer that felt meaningful and beneficial to the company.” He has found the role especially meaningful because accurate lead-time information supports stronger Supply Chain decisions and helps ensure materials arrive when needed. Through the experience, Adam has also strengthened his communication skills, from writing professional emails to connecting effectively with others across the workplace.
A Closer Look at Supply Chain
Adam’s interest in Supply Chain comes from the coordination and behind-the-scenes problem-solving that keep products, materials, and people moving forward. He enjoys analyzing market conditions, making informed material purchasing decisions, and solving the everyday challenges to keep operations on track. Adam also values Design Ready Controls’ culture, sharing, “The people here are genuinely enthusiastic about what they do, and I feel lucky to work alongside teammates who are excited to come into work each day.” He appreciates learning from Purchasing Manager Alex Heiselman, whose flexibility, guidance, and understanding of employees have given Adam a strong example of effective leadership.
A Future Built on New Possibilities
Looking ahead, Adam plans to continue working while completing college before applying to law school. His long-term goal is to practice contract law and partner with companies like Design Ready Controls.
