Internship: Sales Development Representative Intern

Max is from Milaca, Minnesota and graduated from Bethel University with his bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, watching the Minnesota Timberwolves, and recently took up cooking with his girlfriend.

Drawn to Growth and Opportunity

Max discovered Design Ready Controls through LinkedIn, and it quickly stood out among the other internships he was considering. He was interested in learning more about the industry and was especially drawn to Design Ready Controls’ growth. As Max says, “the company has a lot happening with its expansion, and that was something I really wanted to be part of.” He also appreciates Design Ready Controls’ mantra, “We Actually Do It.” To Max, that phrase reflects a culture of accountability that he values highly. As he explains, “they really follow through on what they say they’re going to do, and I think that’s important because not everyone else does.” That same mindset has carried into his experience as a Sales Development Representative Intern, especially as he connects with prospective customers. In terms of outreach, Max lives by the idea that “every no is one closer to a yes,” and continues using feedback as a way to strengthen his communication.

Building Confidence in Sales

While the role comes with its challenges, Max has also experienced several rewarding moments. Reflecting on a recent success, Max says “I was able to schedule two meetings with potential customers over the next few weeks, and that felt like a big breakthrough.” Max values the opportunity to continue learning about sales through hands-on experience. He states, “coming in and being able to refine my communication, learn what customers need, and helping them see the value in what we offer is something that I am really excited about.” Through shadowing and mentorship, Max has developed a stronger appreciation for sales and better understanding of where his strengths lie in. He stays motivated coming in each day and doing work that feels meaningful.

Mentorship in Action

Max has had the opportunity to work with Design Ready Controls Marketing Director Amanda Gregory and Design Ready Fabrication Account Manager Blair Ehmke. Their guidance has played an important role in helping him grow in his position as a Sales Development Representative Intern. Max explains, “You can tell there are always clear reasons behind what they do, and they’re always willing to answer questions and be helpful resources.” Overall, one of the things Max values most about his internship experience is the support that comes with it.

Future Plans

After his time at Design Ready Controls, Max plans to continue pursuing a career in sales. He shares that he would love the opportunity to continue working for Design Ready Controls and to keep growing alongside the company.
