Internship: Supply Chain Intern
Emily is currently a junior at the University of South Carolina, where she is studying supply chain, marketing, and data analytics. Outside of school and work, she enjoys walking her dog, playing pickleball, spending time outdoors with friends, and trying new restaurants—her favorite is Grocer’s Table in Wayzata (definitely worth a visit!). She also loves spending weekends at the cabin in Wisconsin.
Internship Experience That Felt Like Home
Emily discovered her internship at Design Ready Controls through LinkedIn. From her interview experience, which included a tour and a conversation with her manager, Alex, she immediately felt the company was the right fit. The welcoming office environment and company culture solidified her decision to join the team. She liked how hands on she could be especially with learning more about supply chain.
Collaboration and Connection
What Emily appreciates most about Design Ready Controls is the emphasis on collaboration among interns. She values the opportunity to meet peers her age, learn about their projects, and build a strong professional network. Her team is supportive and communicative, fostering an environment where questions are welcomed, and assistance is always available. She would say that it is a fun environment and enjoys connecting with each of her teammates every day.
Recent Projects
Currently, Emily is working on compiling a master document that tracks all the manufacturers and suppliers the company sources from. She knows the importance of building strong supplier relationships to save costs and aid future purchasing decisions. Additionally, she handles reorder reports and participates in morning meetings with suppliers to discuss ongoing projects, which gives her practical insights into supply chain management.
Looking ahead
Emily plans to return to school after the summer and graduate in a year and a half. She intends to move back to the Twin Cities, possibly settling in Wayzata, and seek a career in data and computer science. Her internship at Design Ready Controls has been a great experience, providing her with skills and connections that will support her future career.
